RPF saves passenger’s life, properties

Bhubaneswar: Prompt action by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) special task force member of Khurda Road Division has saved the life and property of a passenger.

East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources here Tuesday said three criminals tried to snatch the gold ring and other valuables from a passenger around 2:30 am in the Old PRS area of Bhubaneswar railway station. The criminals tried to strangulate the passenger when he resisted. But Divisional Special Task Force team member T K Mohapatra, who was on confidential watch, acted swiftly and saved the passenger from the clutches of the criminals.

In the meantime, other members of the team reached there, arrested two of the three criminals and recovered most of the belongings of the passenger.

In the scuffle, Mohapatra suffered a head injury and was admitted to Divisional Railway Hospital, Khurda Road.

The arrested have been handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Bhubaneswar for further action.
