Raisuan: Amid allegation of irregularities in rural housing schemes, many poor and landless people in this block of Keonjhar district have to face untold miseries without roofs over their heads.
The plight of a homeless tribal couple taking shelter in a neighbour’s goat shed has come to fore at Mahadeijoda panchayat under Sadar block.
According to reports, the thatched house of Sabitri Munda and her husband Mohan Munda had collapsed due to heavy rain about four months ago. The couple ran from pillar to post seeking a housing unit under government schemes, but to no avail.
Sabitri is now nine-month pregnant. Left with no option, the family was forced to take shelter in the goat shed of a neighbour.
Locals demanded that the administration take immediate steps to help out the distressed family and provide it a house under Indira Awas Yojana. PNN
