Ratnagiri: Congress MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria after resigning from the membership of the State Assembly over his inability to provide justice to the Kunduli gangrape victim reached the Ratnagiri Buddhist shrine Tuesday and participated in an assembly of Buddhist monks in the shrine.
Sagaria met the Buddhist guru in the assembly and sought his blessings while giving explosive statements against the opposition leader in the State Assembly. Sagaria, who is a known loyalist of former Union Minister Srikant Jena, was accompanied by the block Congress leaders and workers during the visit.
Sagaria’s remarks against the opposition leader have stunned the party workers accompanying him. Notably, Sagaria left Hinduism and accepted Buddhism as his religion May 13, 2018. He alleged that he was not given enough time to speak for the Kunduli gangrape victim in the State Assembly while he was equally let down by the silence of the opposition leader on the issue following which he tendered his resignation as an MLA.
Sagaria said he was not born as an MLA and the post of MLA is not essential to serve the people when mediapersons asked him whether he resigned to join a new party or over fear of defeat. Congress leaders Bishnu Charan Mohanty, Gagan Bihari Jena, Stalin Jena, Ramesh Behera, Manoj Das and Ashok Kumar Jena were present with Sagaria during his visit.
