Cuttack, May 5: Saheed Sporting, Bhubaneswar registered an emphatic six wickets victory over Victoria Cricket Academy (VCA), Kolkata to enter into the semifinals of the Sumit Bose Memorial U-16 cricket tournament at the SCB Ground here Tuesday.
Put into bat first, VCA were bundled out for 145 in 36 overs against some disciplined bowling by Subham Satrujeet (3/40) and Sandeep Chauhan (2/35). Kaushal Danek (37, 26b, 4×4) was the only batsman to offer some resistance with the bat. Kaushal, however, was unlucky as none of the others in his team could provide him support. Abhinav Sharan (19) promised much but was too slow to give the innings any momentum.
In reply, Saheed Sporting cantered home in 35 overs for the loss of four wickets, courtesy a patient half century by Sraban Bunga (70, 108b, 9×4). Sraban bagged the man of the match award for his match winning knock. Satrujeet, who had bowled well also came up with a good knock of 31 (50b. 2×4) to ensure a convincing win for the local side.
