Saina stuns Ramanathan

Bhubaneswar, June 4: Orissa players had an improved show in the IXth Mumbai Mayor’s Cup International Chess Tournament at Mumbai, Saturday.
In the A category, WCM Saina Salonika stunned higher rated player IM Ramanathan Balsubramaniam of Tamil Nadu in the fourth round. With this victory Saina has now two points in her kitty with two wins and two losses. Sambit Panda forced Harsh Maugesh Ghag of Maharashtra to sign piece with him. Sambit has a total of 1.5 points so far with one win and one draw.
After the completion of the fourth round seven players are leading the pack with four points each. As many players are closely following them with 3.5 points apiece.
In the B category, Santosh Raj Panda got the better of Mihir Saha of Gujarat in the eighth round. Santosh has five points in his kitty with five wins and three losses after the completion of the eighth round. Four players are sharing the top spot with seven points, while they are closely followed by nine players with 6.5 points apiece.
