Mumbai: You must have seen your favorite stars and would have minutely noticed about their lifestyle as well as the people managing their chores. One must have noticed Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera, who is virtually a shadow of the superstar. He is no less than a member of the ‘Khan-daan.’
Salman and Shera’s association is close to 25 years, starting in 1995. “Jab tak zinda hoon, bhai ke saath rahunga (As long as am alive, I will be with Bhai). I always tell people that they will never see me standing behind or next to bhai. I will be standing in front of him, looking out for any threat,” Shera has been quoted as saying in an interview.
It was Salman’s brother Sohail who got Shera as a bodyguard. During a party in 1995, Shera met Salman Khan and Sohail Khan. A few days later Salman and Sohail went to Chandigarh where the former was mobbed. Sohail realized that Salman needed good bodyguard and hence Shera was appointed. Sohail contacted Shera and offered him the position to be Salman’s bodyguard. Shera without hesitation said ‘Yes’.
According to the media reports, Shera approximately gets Rs 15 lakh per month to look after the security arrangements of Salman. His annual income is estimated to be a whopping rupees two crore. Shera also opened a company called Tiger Security in 1993.
Shera whose real name is Gurmeet Singh Jolly, hails from a Sikh family. From a very young age, he was interested in studies, but bodybuilding. Shera has also been imprisoned a number of times as he has clashed with people trying to protect Salman. His bonding with Salman Khan’s family will always be there.
