Sambalpur: Suma Khatun from Sunapalli village, under Sambalpur municipality, whose father works as a mason, has topped in Sambalpur district in the matriculation examinations results of which was announced, Sunday. Suma is a shining example of how a person can reach the pinnacle of success with hard work and willpower on the face of adversity. While the successful student’s father Mirazul Haque is a mason, mother Aisha Bibi adds to the family income by stitching clothes. Suma is the second daughter of her parents and studied at the Balibandha Government Girls High School in Sakshipada. She has secured a total of 556 marks (92.66 per cent) in the matric exams, good enough to bag the coveted first position in the district. Suma said she wants to become a teacher in future. For that, she plans to do her bachelor’s degree in Education. She credits her parents, school teachers and tutor ‘Bijay Sir’ for the success. She said she used to study for 13-14 hours a day during her preparations for the Board examination.
