Bhubaneswar: Hindi film industry actor Sanjay Mishra is set to make his debut in Odia cinema with an upcoming romantic entertainer that promises to bring the charm and nostalgia of 1980s romance back to the big screen.
The yet-to-be-titled film, produced under the banner of Auroshree Films, has already gone on floors, with shooting currently underway. The film is being directed by Mrutyunjay Sahoo and is planned for a release during Durga Puja 2026.
Sanjay Mishra will share the screen with a strong ensemble cast comprising Maheswata Ray, Akash, Bhoomika, Sanoj, Pragya, Sushant and Krishna Kar.
The makers are pitching the film as a nostalgic romantic drama built around the emotions and flavour of the 1980s.
With the tagline “80s Romance is Back”, the project aims to recreate the era’s distinctive romantic atmosphere while presenting the story for today’s audiences.
For Mishra, whose work across Hindi cinema has earned him recognition for his versatile performances, the project marks his entry into the Odia film industry.
With shooting already underway, the film is expected to be one of the notable Odia releases lined up for the Durga Puja 2026 festive season.
The makers are yet to announce the film’s title and reveal further details about the storyline and Mishra’s character.
