Nayagada/Dashapalla/ Sarankul: The body of Maheswar Mohapatra, 56, principal of Sarankul College in Nayagada district, was recovered from a MEMU train at Dashapalla station Thursday under mysterious circumstances. Mohapatra hailed from Rabera village under Odagaon police limits and was staying in Nayagada. He had gone to Bhubaneswar on some work and was returning to Sarankul College by the MEMU train Thursday. He was scheduled to get off at Nayagada Town station.

However, he apparently could not get off the train, which subsequently reached Dashapalla station. When passengers were boarding the train there, they found Mohapatra lying unconscious and alerted railway personnel.

Local residents and railway staff took him to the Dashapalla Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him dead. His body has been kept at the health facility. Railway police from Jatani are expected to arrive before the post-mortem is conducted. Mohapatra’s family members reached the health centre after receiving the news. Railway officials said the exact cause of death would be known after the post-mortem report is received.
