Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha MLA Satya Bhusan Sahu died at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar Wednesday.
The senior Congress leader was 73.
He was elected to the assembly from Padampur three times, in 1980, 1985 and 2004.
Expressing grief over his death, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Sahu’s contribution as a legislator would be remembered.
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Satya Bhusan Sahoo, the former MLA of Padampur. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for the peaceful departure of the departed soul. Om Shanti, Majhi said in a social media post.
The mortal remains of the former MLA were brought to the state assembly, where Speaker Surama Padhy and several other leaders paid their last respects.
State Congress president Bhakta Charan Das also condoled Sahu’s death.
He said Sahu’s dedicated service to the people of Padampur and his contribution as a committed Congress leader would always be remembered.
