Tensa: K Balang police in Sundaragada district arrested a school clerk for allegedly molesting two Class X girl students and produced him before the POCSO court Saturday. The accused was identified as Jitendra Kumar Udal, a clerk at a school in the Jamuda gram panchayat area under Koida block.
According to a complaint lodged by the girls’ parents, the incident took place after a Ganesh Puja immersion procession. Udal, who was on duty during the procession, allegedly detained the two girls after the immersion and behaved inappropriately with them.
The girls did not initially disclose the alleged incident, reportedly fearing social stigma. They later told their parents about the matter after returning home. Following the complaint, police detained Udal for questioning and registered a case (224/2026) under Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After investigation, police arrested Udal and forwarded him to the Sundaragada POCSO court Saturday. Further investigation into the case is underway.
