Security guard found with throat slit in City

Bhubaneswar: Within a few days since a security guard of a Kalyan Mandap was shot at by miscreants here, another watchman of a marble company near Pahala on the city outskirts was found dead with his throat slit Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Gadadhar Swain. He was working as a watchman at the marble factory.

The death came to fore after some locals found Swain in a pool of blood inside a building located next to the marble company where he worked early in the morning and called up police.

After reaching the spot police found grievous cut mark on the neck of the victim and also recovered a sharp weapon by the side of the body pointing at murder by some miscreants post a brawl.

Sources said unidentified miscreants dragged the on-duty guard and killed him by slitting his throat with a sharp weapon. While the cause of the murder is yet to be ascertained, police have begun a probe into the incident.

Meanwhile, locals protested and blocked the road demanding arrest of the culprits and compensation for the family members of the deceased.

While the body has been sent for post-mortem, the Commissionerate Police has deployed adequate number of cops at the site to maintain law and order situation.

Two miscreants had earlier opened fire at Gyanendra Mallick March 16, a security guard at Tankapani Road here, leaving him critically injured. Sources in the Sahid Nagar police, which are yet to solve the case, claimed that the attack on the security guard Mallick was not out of any past animosity. The miscreants, under the influence of drugs, opened fire at him during a small and casual verbal duel.

On the other hand speaking on the murder of Swain Thursday, the Inspector in-Charge of the Balianta Police station, PK Rout told Orissa POST, “We are investigating into all the angles in the case. The locals told police that they last saw Swain Wednesday night at 11 pm and later spotted his body at 7.30 in the morning few meters away from the room. The post mortem report can only shed light on the actual cause of his death.”

Police has been investigating into the matter after registering a case (82/19) under section 302 of the IPC.

Meanwhile, in a shocking twist, sources in the police also claimed that a suicide note has been recovered from the spot that hinting towards Swain committing suicide. However, the reasons for him taking the extreme step are still shrouded in the mystery.
