Separate trains to run for Junagarh and Jagdalpur routes

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has agreed to run separate trains on Bhubaneswar-Junagarh and Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur routes following a request made by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The Union Minister shared the information via his social media account, Monday. He thanked Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for acceding to his request of running two separate trains on these routes.

“Thanks Shri Piyush Goyal ji for acceding to my request for running Train no 18437/18438 Bhubaneswar-Junagarh Road Express between Bhubaneswar & Junagarh Road and Train no 18447/18448 Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express between Bhubaneswar and Jagdalpur, as separate services (sic),” Pradhan said.

He further said that this will go a long way in providing better connectivity to passengers travelling between these destinations.

It is to be mentioned here that Pradhan had written a letter to Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal urging him to run two separate trains on Bhubaneswar-Junagarh and Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur route in July.

Pradhan had written in the letter that currently the train starts from Bhubaneswar as one amalgamated train with 10 coaches bound for Junagarh and 12 coaches destined for Jagdalpur with a split up at Rayagada. On the return journey, the two separate trains are amalgamated at Rayagada and run towards Bhubaneswar as one train.

“The present system creates many difficulties for passengers especially from Kalahandi. Sometimes passengers are not able to board the proper coaches due to the complications involved. I am also given to understand that if this proposal is accepted the train shall run in full capacity due to huge demand of connecting between Bhubaneswar and Kalahandi,” Pradhan had written to Goyal.
