Seven-year-old girl allegedly abducted from Kataka railway station area

Kataka: Police have launched a search for a seven-year-old girl allegedly abducted from the railway station area under the Chauliaganj police limits in Kataka district Monday, with CCTV footage showing an elderly man accompanying the child.

The girl’s whereabouts and safety remain unknown. Police are examining CCTV footage from the railway station, Government Railway Police (GRP) and other parts of the city to trace her and identify the suspected abductor.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s family, they had come to Kataka from Deogarh for work. They were staying in the area before planning to move elsewhere for employment. The family reportedly lost sight of the girl, following which they searched the surrounding areas but could not find her.

The family subsequently approached Chauliaganj police, who registered an abduction case and began an investigation.

CCTV footage under scanner

One CCTV recording reportedly shows a man aged over 60 buying something from a shop while accompanied by the girl. Another footage shows the man carrying a bag and walking alongside the child.

Police are examining the footage to establish the sequence of events and trace the girl. Police have not yet issued an official statement on the case.
