Bhubaneswar, April 15: Close on the heels of a crackdown on a massage parlour at Samantarapur last week, another sex racket was busted at Master Canteen.
Three victims were rescued Wednesday from a beauty parlour in the street adjacent to Lalchand Jewellers at Master Canteen, which was being used to run sex business. Five men were also arrested from the parlour during a raid, conducted on a tip-off by Kharvelnagar police.
The accused were identified as Mohammad Shamim (48), Majid Khan (45) and Rajkumar Sharma (60), all hailing from Bihar, who, according to police, worked as pimps. Two other men, who had paid for sex, were also arrested: Debasis Manda (37) of Kendrapada and Chitranjan Barik (45) of MLA Colony here.
The two rescued victims are locals and another belonges to Bihar.
Speaking to Orissa POST, a betel seller said, “The racket has been in operation for over a year. We notice women coming to and going out of the parlour. But, they did not stay there. They also did not appear to be locals.”
A case under Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act was registered. The accused were forwarded to the court.
