In a one-sided summit clash it was the ‘Shishya’ who triumphed over his one-time ‘Guru’. As the match progressed, Asutosh’s dominance on the green baize grew and after he had won the hard-fought first frame, he wrapped up the next two easily in the best of five final.
“I had a couple of good breaks in the first frame – one was a 40-plus break and the other above 30 and that helped me to win the match,” stated Asutosh who won his second senior state title. He also holds the state junior billiards and snooker crowns also.
The Orissa player who is currently studying law at the Government Law College in Mumbai also said that in the second and third frame, it became comparatively easy for him. “Before I shifted to Mumbai and started training with Sanjay Sawant, it was Subrat bhai who was my coach.
