BHUBANESWAR: The fifth day of Silk Fab Exhibition 2019, organised by National Handloom Development Corporation, drew a huge footfall of visitors here Tuesday.
Interacting with Orissa POST, one of the officials of NHDC said, “Silk Fab exhibition is organised to promote and support weavers to sell their silk fabric clothes and other creations from silk. Although silk fabric is the King of all threads, such expos are essential to promote talented weavers who are living out of the limelight.”
With an impressive décor, the expo boosts 45 stalls housing various types of apparel like sarees, Churidar, Salwar Kameez sets, dupatta and stole among other merchandises.
Organised at a city hotel in Bhubaneswar, the exhibition has witnessed 1800 buyers per day. Sanghamitra Naryan, a budding designer said, “It’s heartening to interact with genuinely talented weavers who have come from Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, UP and other parts of India. Silk is definitely worth buying as it adds a gloss to any getup anytime.”
The visitors were impressed by the sheer variety of silk apparel available at the expo. These were available in a number of colours and designs. With Durga Puja and Diwali festivities looming around the corner, homemakers, fashionistas, fashion bloggers and youngsters were seen thronging the expo to get their hands on the finest pieces of ethnic wear available.
Colorful dupattas were available in as low as Rs 450 which is certainly surprising for many buyers. “Silk wedding sarees from Karnataka were like the icing on a cake in an expo which was already replete with numerous visual treats. I am particularly impressed by the rich handiwork of our weavers. This is the perfect destination for anyone who loves silk.”
Another visitor Sonali Dash said, “I have been visiting Silk Fab for quite some time now. I can say that this expo offers the widest variety of products made from silk. I would urge any dress lovers who haven’t visited the expo yet to come here and experience the joys of shopping.”
