Shops to remain shut in Cuttack after 2 pm: CMC

Cuttack: In view of rising cases of COVID-19, markets and shops in Cuttack city will be closed after 2:00 pm daily between May 3 and 18, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Ananya Das informed Friday.

The trader associations gave the proposal of closing down shops after 2:00 pm at a meeting Thursday.

Considering their proposal, the CMC took the decision to allow the markets and shops in the city for doing business till 2:00 pm. Pharmacies and other emergency services will continue to remain open after 2pm.

Similarly, except for loading and unloading, all other activities at Mal Godown and Chhatra Bazar will remain suspended after 2:00 pm.

Notably, Cuttack district Friday reported 570 new cases, pushing the tally to 35,313. Of them, 31,155 have recovered from the disease and 4,008 are undergoing treatment.
