Sick woman left unconscious for 3 hrs at ADM’s office

Balasore: In a shocking incident, a woman was left unconscious at the office of Additional District Magistrate here for three hours with no one to help her Monday. She was identified as Benguli Prusty (45) of Champua area in Keonjhar district.

According to sources, family members abandoned Benguli after she was found to have a tumour in her stomach. Her belly grew abnormally in size due to the tumour. With no money for medical treatment, she silently suffered the pain and was battling for life every second.

Without knowing what to do, she took a train with an endless journey. Coming to know of her plight, a co-passenger sympathised with her and advised her to seek the help of the additional district magistrate.

Accordingly, Benguli got down at Balsore and reached the weekly grievances meeting at the additional magistrate’s office. However, she fell unconscious in the office before she could reach his chamber. No one paid heed to her plight although hundreds of locals passed by.

Later, some reporters extended a helping hand and called an ambulance. However, the ambulance showed up only after three hours after which she was taken to the district headquarters hospital.

Although the woman was admitted to hospital, she was worried on the treatment expenses. “I cannot bear the treatment charges all by myself. I plead with the administration to take notice of my condition and bear my medical expenses,” she stated with tears rolling down her cheeks. PNN
