Baripada: The Similipal national park and tiger reserve will remain closed to tourists from June 16 for an indefinite period.Field director of the tiger reserve, Yajnadutta Pati, said Thursday that the date of the reopening would be announced later.
It was May 24 that, for the second time after 2007, four Melanistic (black pigment) tigers were spotted in the core area of the tiger reserve.
Located in northern Odisha, the Similipal national park is spread over 2750sq-km, famous for its pristine beauty coupled with its varied flora and fauna, which attracts tourists from both inside and outside the country.
