Puri, June 1: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Wednesday wrote to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) asking it to remove iron scaffolding from Srimandir Jagamohan by June 15 for the smooth conduct of Snanapurnima ritual scheduled for June 20.
The ASI has decided to repair some portions of Jagamohan within 10 days, according to sources. It has also procured stainless steel plates for temple renovation.
ASI employees will fix these plates on the pillars of Jagamohan to strengthen them. SJTA sources said a Bhubaneswar-based private agency has been engaged to fabricate the plates for the repair of Jagamohan.
Srimandir technical committee members inspected Jagamohan and supervised the arrangements for repair.
A few servitors, meanwhile, have raised doubts over the ASI’s plan to repair the pillars of Jagamohan within 10 days.
“At least seven days are required to remove iron scaffolding from Jagamohan. So, ASI will have to complete the pillar renovation by June 8. We do not think they can finish the task by that date,” said a servitor.
