Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan released Monday the India Rankings 2024, which implements the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) drafted for this purpose by the Ministry of Education in 2015. IIT, Madras retained the top spot for the sixth consecutive year, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was ranked as the best university for the ninth year in a row, according to a release issued by the Ministry of Education.
Three educational institutions of the state found a place in the top 100 of overall rankings. Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan got 24th rank, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) was 28th and National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela was placed 34th.
On the other hand, Utkal University was 42nd in the top 50 Public University rankings. Pradhan said that rankings, ratings and accreditation are vital ingredients of the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. The minister congratulated all the HEIs who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, innovation, research, graduation outcomes and other parameters and bagged a place of pride in the India Rankings 2024. Eight IITs have figured in the top 10 besides All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi and JNU.
