Bhubaneswar: Five people were injured after a dispute over a social media live video escalated into a clash near a Ganesh Puja pandal in Ghatikia under Bharatpur police limits late Sunday night. Two rounds of blank firing were also reported during the confrontation.
The incident took place during Ganesh idol immersion, when several youths had gathered near the pandal.
According to reports, the dispute erupted after a youth allegedly made controversial remarks about a case during a social media live session. The video subsequently went viral, reportedly provoking members of another group.
The group reportedly reached the pandal, where an argument over the video soon escalated into a clash between the two sides.
Five people sustained serious injuries in the ensuing assault, reports said.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the reported firing.
