Bhubaneswar: Sohini Sanjay Mohanty and Sangram Kumar Patra of Orissa emerged champions in their respective categories of the AITA-OTA Talent Series tennis tournament, which ended here, Friday.
Sohini defeated statemate Mahika Sarangi 6-1, 6-2 in straight sets in the U-12 girls’ singles final while Sangram got the better of another state player Pratyush Mohanty 6-4, 6-3 in the U-16 boys’ singles final.
The U-16 boys’ doubles was also an all Orissa affair with the duo of Bighnesh Nanda and D Aryan Swamy winning against statemates Pratyush and Yashraj Nayak 6-1, 7-5 in the final.
Tamoghna Das of West Bengal clinched the U-12 boys’ singles title after prevailing over Stevan Ankit Ekka of Orissa 6-3, 6-3. Bengal girl Ananya Yadav emerged champion in the U-16 girls’ singles title after registering a fighting 3-6,6 -3,7-5 win over Simran Neha Ekka of Orissa.
Teams leave
Both the men and women teams of Orissa departed from the city Friday to take part in the 65th National Senior Kabaddi Championship in Hyderabad, December 31-January 5.
