Bhubaneswar, July 21: The songs of popular American rock band ‘Linkin Park’ have influenced many music lovers since early 90s. The news of Chester Bennington suicides, the lead singer of the band came as shock to its fan all across the world. Songs like Numb, Castles of Glass, Burn it Down, In the End, Heavy, One Step Closer, Somewhere I Belong are some their best releases. Their songs appealed youngsters. Some of the fans from the state shared their views about the band and the reason for liking their songs. Filmaker Nila Madhab Panda has been listening to the songs of Linkin Park since his childhood. “The news of Chester’s death is a big shock. I grew up listening to his songs. He has been an inspiration for many souls. Now, the inspiration has left the world. He
tried so hard and got so far,” Panda said. Samir Rishu Mohanty, a young rapper from the state who has been inspired by the band said, “It is a sad day for all the rock music lovers. Linkin Park was my introduction to English and rap music. As a kid, Chester was the greatest singer to me. The band’s music motivated me to start singing. Chester and Eminem are the singers who inspired me to become a rapper. Their music touched my souls.” Biraj Rath another musician from the city shared his opinion. “When I entered an engineering college, I met a lot of people who loved English music. Frankly speaking, I wasn’t a fan of English tracks. A friend of mine was listening to the Numb song by Linkin Park and that was the moment, when I fell in love with Linkin Park. During those days, it wasn’t easy to download songs from the Internet. One day,
when I was struggling with life, I heard the song “Shadow of the day”. I remember a line “sometimes solutions aren’t so simple, sometimes good bye is the only way”. That line made me realise that it’s absolutely fine to let go a few things that doesn’t work,” Rath said. “I have been listening to the songs since many years. I was inspired to compose rap for my first film Two Desires and A Dream. Such was their influence and wizardry on admirers like me. Linkin park band has not just pioneered Rap, but have also revolutionised the format of songs. ‘In the End’ has been my favourite. When they collaborated with Jay-Z to bring out the album named Collision Course- Numb and Encore ruled the heart of rap lovers like me,” Jitendra Kumar Biswal, the first quadriplegic actor from the state, said. “I feel that I have lost my idol, when I heard about his demise,” Devi Shome (12) said.”
