BHUBANESWAR:Capital High School Tuesday hosted a statelevel Children’s Day event amidst gusto wherein Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik delivered the keynote address in the presence of his Cabinet colleagues, MLAs
and Members of Parliament. The show kick-startedwith a colorful group dance which was followed by Majhi re, a number sung by Ananya Sritam. The event was attended by spe
cial children and students from various educational institutions across the state. Satayajit Jena of Little Champs fame sang Mera karma tu mera dharma tu whichreceived a huge applause. The spectacular dance and stunt performance by Prince Dance Group on Jai homade the crowd tap their feet. Students of the Orissa Dance Academy staged a stunning performance on the theme of the event, Aame Padhibhu, Gadhibu, Shrestha Hebu. Patnaik called for exploration of
the children’s potential from the grassroots in which the teachers and parents should work together. He recalled the exemplary services of Late Madhusudan Das and Late Biju Pattnaik who pioneered a language movement for constitution of the Orissa province. Patnaik also inaugurated the “Mo School’’ programme to ensure mandatory schooling for every child in the state. Following this, school children took an oath en masseto go to school regularly and to “make the nation proud.” The programme concluded with Satayajit and Ananaya singing foot-tapping Hindi numbers. The children celebrated the event which spread cheers all around. The show and several other events related to the Children’s Day were telecast live. “Suravi-2017’’, a three-day event, being organised by School and Mass Education Department was launched at Unit IX Boys High School here.Slogan-writing, essay writing, poetry, dance and music competitions were held as part of the three-day programmes. A dozen stalls and a book exhibitionwere organised at the school. Around 2,000 students led by1200 teachers from across the state are attending the event. Various cultural activities ensued.
