New Delhi: A group of people from Orissa have advocated special status for the state once again in the National Capital.
Akhand Bharat Jan Jagaran Programme, a voluntary outfit, had earlier staged a day-long dharna at Jantar Mantar and wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday reiterating the demand.
“We have come to demand special status tag for our state on account of the poverty and backwardness of the state. Keeping in mind the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament beginning next week we have come together to reiterate our demand to help the people of the state,” said Anadi Charan Sahu, trustee of the outfit, at a press conference here.
