Puri: The state government has delegated special powers to Orissa Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) for setting up of Srijagannath Enclave alongside Puri-Konark marine drive under Balukhand mouza.
The government has declared Idco as the special planning authority for the enclave, scheduled to house the guesthouses of several state governments and public sector units.
Sources said special power is bestowed on Idco as per Section 3 (a) of Orissa Development Authorities (Amendment) Act, 2015. “Now, Idco does not need the Puri-Konark Development Authority’s approval to its building plan for the enclave,” said a source.
Sources said the government has provided 36.82 acre land to Idco for Srijagannath Enclave. The Idco will allocate plots to various state governments and PSUs for establishing their guesthouses at the enclave.
“The proposed enclave has been accorded eco-tourism project status. All the guesthouses at the enclave will be identical in design. A shopping mall and a multiplex will be constructed at the enclave for which a special design has been prepared,” added the source.
It is learnt that several PSUs and the governments of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Punjab have submitted their applications to the state government seeking plots at the
enclave.
“The state government will soon write to some states and PSUs regarding the project. A CD will be prepared to provide detailed information on the enclave to interested parties. A decision to this effect has been taken at a meeting chaired by the development commissioner in Bhubaneswar,” said collector Aravind Agrawal.
