Spreading smiles among the elderly

BHUBANESWAR: Members of SOCH Foundation Trust celebrated Mother’s Day in MP Old Age Home at Rasulgarh here Sunday.

A member said, “On this day we the people of SOCH Foundation Trust worship all the mothers present over here according to Hindu rituals and make them feel very special. We embrace all the mothers and also organise cake cutting to spread warmth and love.”

Singer Itishree Dixit presented a beautiful song for the mothers. Executive Director of SOCH Foundation Trust Swadhin Kumar Patra, Smruti Chhotaray, Jyotirmayee Mohanty, Amar Budharaj, Sonali Priydarshini, Kajol Sahoo and Bhagyashree Suar among other volunteers graced the occasion.

“Our chief purpose was to spread happiness among the people. We believe in spreading happiness in the society. We cooked dinner for all the people present in the premises. We loved to serve them and our society,” said another member.

Speaking about the initiative, Swadhin Kumar Patra, executive director, SOCH Foundation Trust, said, “We keep undertaking small and big initiatives for a larger social cause. It was a humbling experience to see how little things make a huge difference to the residents of the old age home in Rasulgarh. The activity has instilled a commitment within us to conduct such programmes more often.”

Chairman of the trust Smruti Chhotaray said, “Every year, the second Sunday in the month of May is celebrated as Mother’s Day in India, and in many countries around the world. This year, it falls on May 12. Notwithstanding the debate regarding the need to celebrate such events, the day is marked by huge discounts doled out by various brands and numerous thought-provoking viral videos making rounds on social media.”
