State approves 10 investment proposals worth Rs 2435.57 crore

Bhubaneswar: In another step towards creation of employment opportunities through industrialisation, state government Thursday approved ten industrial proposals envisaging investment of Rs 2435.57 crore and employment opportunities for 5432 persons.

State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) led by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy approved these projects here at its meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan.

While approving the projects, Tripathy directed concerned departments to make a realistic assessment of the requirement of land and water for these industrial units.  The officials concerned were also asked to facilitate support for early grounding of the projects.

Development Commissioner Suresh Mohapatra advised IDCO and IPICOL to work out a model bench-marking of the land required for various types of industries in consultation with technical experts. The industry department was further advised for ensuring compliance to employment norms by the industries.

The proposal of Ion Exchange Ltd for setting up a manufacturing plant of onion and raisins at Paradeep with investment of Rs 166 crore was approved by the government. It will create job opportunity for 125 persons.

The Authority also approved the proposal of Highland Agro to set up shrimp processing and cold chain unit at Gadabhanga of Balasore district with an investment of Rs 53.08 crore. The project will create employment potential for 445 people.

As per the decision, Ratnamani Metals and Tubes Ltd will set up a steel pipe manufacturing unit at Kalinganagar of Jajpur district, which will create employment for 183 people with an investment of Rs 156 crore.

Metaliks Ltd will set up iron pipe plant at Kalinganagar with investment of Rs 504 crore and 2181 persons will be employed in this project.

The SLSWCA has also gave its nod to the Beekay Steel Industries Ltd’s proposal for set up steel billet manufacturing unit worth Rs196 crore at Kalinganagar, Kamaljit Singh Ahulwalia’s proposal for expansion of its existing 0.1 MTPA steel plant to 0.2 MTPA capacity at Barpada of Keonjar district with investment of Rs 593.67 crore, proposal of Suraj Products Ltd for expansion of its steel plant capacity by addition of steel melting shop and rolling mill at Barpali in Sundargarh district with investment of Rs 50.25 crore, TM International Logistics’s Logistic park project at Kalinganagar (Rs168 crore), proposal of Aditya Birla Renewable Ltd to set up a solar power plant of 75 MW capacity in Boudh, Bargarh and Bolangir districts  (Rs 352.50 crore) and proposal of NHPC to set up 40 MW solar power plant in Ganjam district (Rs 196.07 crore).
