Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: The state government aims to create 5 lakh new jobs in the MSME sector during next financial year against 3 lakh jobs which is to be created during this fiscal. “The MSME sector is likely to create about 5 lakh jobs from next financial year onwards from a target of 3 lakh jobs during this fiscal,” Chief Secretary, G C Pati said in an event here Friday.
He also said the sector has generated about 1.05 lakh jobs in FY15 against 0.3 lakh in FY14. “Orissa has about 1.5 million MSME units generating employment for 3.3 million people but only few units are registered under the DICs (District Industries Centre). All the units must be registered with the DICs to foster higher growth in the future,” Pati said adding about 8-10 per cent of the units have institutional credits facilities.
Addressing the event, SBI Chief General Manager, B Venugopal Reddy said if NPA level of MSME loans come down, it will look at cutting the interest rate by more than 65 basis points for the MSME sector in the near future.
