State fixes June deadline for creating 1L acre land bank

Bhubaneswar, April 22: The state government plans to complete the process of land acquisition of 1,00,000 acres of land as part of its land bank project by June, 2016, a state government communication said. This land bank will be utilized for upcoming industrial projects into the state.

“It is pertinent to mention that the state government has mandated Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) for creation of land bank of at least one lakh acres by June 30, 2016 to attract investors for establishment of industries in the state. The chief minister is also reviewing the progress from time to time”, Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary (Industries) said in his letter to the district collectors.

As per the communiqué, IDCO has already filed requisition for government land measuring 76,721.94 acres under Land Bank scheme in different districts.

“Out of the total filed area 12,698.93 acres has been prioritized as category-A land for sanction of lease in favour of IDCO. The balance 64,023.01 acres of land has been placed under category-B and is to be kept reserved at the district level for industrial purpose,” the letter said.

While category-A land is identified as the land parcel which are immediately required for establishing industries, category-B is identified as the land to reserved at the district level for industrial purpose.

Before filing requisition for any industry, IDCO will assess the actual requirement of land through an expert committee.

Chopra has further urged the district collectors to issue necessary instructions to the officers concerned for processing of the lease proposal for category-A land and take necessary steps to for reservation of category-B land for creation of Land Bank.
