Bhubaneswar: Taking a step forward to popularise Royal Tourism (visit to the royal palaces in the state), the Tourism department has decided to include such palaces in the mainstream tourism plans.
This was revealed at a recent meeting on Royal Tourism held at state Tourism department’s office here, where all the heirs apparent of the 16 royal palaces across the state were also present.
The state government is in the process of accelerating Royal Tourism plan, which would be vigorously pursued by the Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC). The meeting attended by tourism secretary Mona Sharma and the department director Nitin Bhanudas Jawale also revealed that all the details of Royal Tourism will be uploaded to the OTDC website, which would include the tourism packages.
The heirs apparent, present at the meeting, also gave their green signal to the plan. A specific guideline will be prepared for the plan which would be followed by the heirs apparent of the royal palaces, the meeting decided.
Before this, the respective palace heirs would have to register themselves with the department. The Tourism department would provide all the necessary assistance to renovate and beautify the palaces.
The department will provide all possible support to make the palaces livable for the visitors who can spend nights there. PNN
