Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: The state has seen around 20 per cent rise in revenue collection and 28 per cent growth in plan expenditure by end of December 2015. In a meeting held Thursday in the state secretariat, additional chief secretary of Finance department, R Balakrishnan said revenue generation from own tax sources stood at Rs 15118 crore by December 2015, up 23.62 per cent over the same period of last fiscal. Similarly, the revenue generation from non-tax sources was to the tune of Rs 4,991 crore, a rise of 9.38 pc over a year ago period.
Meanwhile, plan expenditure has also increased by around 28 pc over the last year, which was at Rs 24, 750 crore. Complementing for the performance, Chief Secretary AP Padhi advised officials to focus on completion of projects. Various departments have also been advised to make the expenditure outcome oriented.
Discussions were also held regarding open budget initiative of the state government in which suggestions are invited from the members of the public to make the budgetary process more open and participative. Suggestions have been invited from the members of the public, civil society, advocacy groups and stakeholders for formulation of state Budget, 2016-17. Notably, more than 800 suggestions have been received so far from various stakeholders till date.
