Bhubaneswar, March 8: State government is mulling to provide land to set up clusters to promote entrepreneurship among rural women, said school and mass education minister Debi Prasad Mishra in a workshop organised by the State Khadi and Gramodyog Board here in the city, to mark the International Women’s Day, Sunday.
“State government will sanction land for the setting up of clusters for rural women entrepreneurs in the state. Special provision will be made for women rural entrepreneurs in the new Industrial Policy-2015, which is to be announced ahead of Nabakalebar,” Mishra said.
He also said that the state government would seriously think of allocating the land in Choudwar for setting up of a Khadi plant, if the board requests the government in writing.
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission is willing to handover the Choudwar plant to the board. The plant will be named as ‘Biju Pattnaik Gramodyog Complex’. It will manufacture readymade garments. It will also serve as the readymade garments hub and khadi designing centre.
“Orissa Khadi Board is taking steps to empower the women in the concerned field. The promotion of the rural women entrepreneur will also create employment for the unemployed women in state,” said Tejeswar Parida, Orissa Khadi and Village industries Board president.
Women entrepreneurs from 35 districts took part in the discussion to share their ideas on the development of the cottage industry that would benefit the women.
Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise secretary Pancanana Das, Mahila Vikas Samabaya Nigam president Sreemayee Mishra were present in the workshop.
