Puri, June 30: Amid a statewide outcry over the delay in Brahma Paribartan ritual of the Srimandir deities here, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Suresh Mohapatra Tuesday said a detailed report on the irregularities would be presented to the temple management committee Wednesday.
Mohapatra said, “The SJTA has suspended two Daita servitors and the probe is under way. Since the SJTA is the highest authority as per Sri Jagannath Temple Act, the status report on Brahma Paribartan lapses would be presented before it.”
Referring to a petition filed in the Orissa High Court over Naba Joubana Darshan, Mohapatra said the SJTA has responded to the court notice and the matter would be discussed by the management committee.
The SJTA as part of the infrastructure development of the city has made provision for a large dormitory to accommodate 500 pilgrims at the new bus terminal coming up at Malatipatapur. The dormitory being built at an investment of `8crore would have a kitchen also, he added.
Two guest houses involving an investment of `40 lakh would come up in the Holy City. The guest houses would have 300 rooms altogether. While one has been built over the temple administration’s land near Town Police station, the site for the other is yet to be identified. The issue would also be taken up with the temple management committee, said the SJTA chief.
With regard to the ventilation problem inside the sanctum sanctorum owing to high-level of humidity and corrosion of stones of the 12th century shrine, Mohapatra said a system would be put in place for permeation of cold steam there.
Mekan India, a Union government agency, has been engaged to undertake a project involving an expenditure of `25 lakh, he stated.
A similar kind of arrangement would also be made at Jagamohana and Natamandap.
Considering the need for immediate repair of the doors at Kalahat and Jay-Bijay entrances the SJTA chief said the work would be taken up during Rath Yatra and Niladri Bije.
