Cuttack, July 7: The special task force (STF) of the state crime branch sent suspected Al Qaeda terrorist Abdur Rehman to jail after his second phase remand period came to an end Thursday.
The STF produced Rehman in Salipur judicial magistrate (first class) court earlier in the day and later sent him to Salipur jail. He was kept in the jail under tight security, sources said.
The STF had taken Rehman on seven-day remand in the second phase for questioning. After interrogating Rehman, the STF interrogated 20 others who had links with him.
During first phase of remand, the STF interrogated him about his jalsa programme and also questioned him on the topic he had addressed during the programme. The STF has elicited information about his network outside the state during the first phase of interrogation.
Rehman not only had a network within the country, but also had links with various terrorist organisations in Pakistan and Afghanistan, sources at the crime branch office said.
