Jajpur: Stones were allegedly pelted at the convoy of former BJD MLA Pranab Balabantaray Sunday while he was returning after attending a meeting in Panturi village under Gadamadhupur panchayat in Jajpur district’s Dharmashala area.
Balabantaray alleged that the attack took place in the “presence of police personnel” and claimed that the assailants were “armed with swords, axes and other weapons”. He further alleged that “stones and bricks were thrown at three vehicles in his convoy, damaging them”.
The reason behind the stone-pelting remained unclear.
After the incident, Balabantaray met the Jajpur SP and sought security. He also urged the police to register an FIR against those involved and take strict action.
Balabantaray alleged that the attackers were “associates of Jajpur MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahu and BJP workers and supporters.”
