Odapada: A student drowned while taking bath in river Brahmani Monday at Mangalpur under Kantabani police station limits in Dhenkanal district.
The deceased, identified as Shubhankar, was the son of Khirod Kumar Nath, a resident of Amlabereni under Tumusinga police station.
Shubhankar was going to a private coaching centre at Mangalpur where he had gone to visit a relative Monday. Shubhankar and his friends took plunge into the river when Shubhankar got drifted into deep waters. Locals rushed in and rescued Shubankar. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital but doctor declared him brought dead. Post-mortem of the body was conducted at Anandpur headquarters hospital.
