Bhubaneswar: The body of a 22-year-old B Tech final-year student was found inside a hostel bathroom under Infocity police station here, police said Friday. The deceased, identified as Yash Raj of Gujarat, was staying at the university hostel. Police have registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation.
According to the police, Raj sustained a severe head injury. Preliminary police findings suggest he may have slipped while using the restroom, resulting in his fatal fall. Meanwhile, family members arrived at the scene and appealed to authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry into the incident. Police said Raj went to the bathroom in the morning but didn’t return. His friends went looking for him and discovered the bathroom door locked from the inside.
After climbing up to check through the ventilation, they spotted his body lying inside and immediately alerted hostel authorities. The authorities informed the police, who arrived at the scene, broke open or accessed the area, and recovered the body for an autopsy.
