Jajpur: Dhamnagar police in Bhadrak district Tuesday arrested a college student on the charge of sharing obscene videos of his girlfriend on social media platforms.
He was also accused of blackmailing the girl. The accused and his girlfriend are degree students of a college in Jajpur district.
The girl’s family hailing from Dhamnagar lodged a complaint with the police.
According to the complaint, the accused lured the girl into a relationship. He managed to video record their intimate moments on various occasions. After an altercation between the two, the boy circulated the videos with his friends that soon went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook.
In her complaint, the girl alleged that the youth possessed more such recordings and was blackmailing her with the videos.
Acting on the complaint, Dhamnagar police arrested the accused from his house in Bahabalpur in Jajpur district.
”The victim is a minor girl. The accused had some objectionable videos of her on his phone. He tried to destroy the phone but we have seized it and will send it for analysis,” said Bhadrak SP Battula Gangadhar.
