Bhubaneswar: Cyber crime police under the Crime Branch Thursday arrested a student from New Delhi on charges of morphing and posting obscene pictures of a girl on social media. The accused has been identified as Manish Jha of Kansar village in Bihar.
Earlier, the girl had lodged a complaint that some miscreants were posting her morphed photographs with pornographic contents on a fake Facebook account of her. Her distorted photos were also shown conducting sexually explicit acts. Moreover, the girl and her family members received such objectionable materials several times through their WhatsApp accounts.
Following the complaint, cops started investigations into the matter by registering a case (CS no.11) under various acts of IPC and the Information Technology Act of 2000. On the basis of technical evidences police ascertained that Manish accessed the Facebook account of the victim and opened a fake one. He had regularly been posting pornographic materials on it.
The police have also seized his cell phone and micro SD memory card. He was charged under sections 292/354-D/465/469/506/509 of the IPC and 66/66-C/67/67-A of the Information Technology act, 2000. The accused was sent to SDJM court at Cuttack.
