Students in quandary over examination venue

Bhadrak: Career plans for a number of aspirants for the section officer post at the State Secretariat has gone awry after being provided with error-filled admit cards. Sudeepta Chand, an aspirant from this district has been provided with an admit card with the name of the examination centre she has never heard about. She is not the only one undergoing this harrowing experience. Some others are also facing the same predicament.

“We had already started our preparations for the examination. But now it seems that all is for a lost cause,” said some aspirants who also received admit cards with examination centres unheard of.

Sudeepta, however feels there is well-planned conspiracy behind such erroneous admit cards. “It is an effort keep out aspirants of Bhadrak from getting the job. So we have been provided with faulty admit cards,” she complained. The parents of the aspiring candidates also had the same opinion.

Sources said, the Odisha Public Service Commission had invited applications from aspirants for section officer posts lying vacant at the Secretariat through advertisements. According to one of the advertisement (No. 10/18-19) the opening date for receiving applications was October 10, 2018 and the closing date was November 9, 2018. In the advertisement, examination centres for applicants from Bhadrak were also mentioned.

A number of them however, have received admit cards asking them to appear for the exam, January 20 at the ‘Bhadrak Samaraipur Binay Residential Secondary School’. However, these aspirants informed Thursday that there is no such school in the district.

Forgetting their studies, the applicants are now running from pillar to post to get the name of the correct venue. With only a couple of days to go, luck seems all against these job seekers. In spite of repeated attempts to contact administrative officials in the district, no comment was forthcoming.
