post news network, Bhubaneswar, May 8: The students and faculty members of the department of Integrated MSc in Electronics and Telecommunication of BJB Autonomous College here organised a candlelight march, Friday, to collect donation for the victims of the devastating earthquake that jolted Nepal recently.
Around 150 students of the department took out the march in front of their college gate near Kalpana and to show solidarity with the victims and prayed for the well being of the survivors.
Earlier in the morning the students collected donations from fellow students and faculty members of the different departments of the college. The money collected would be given to the relief fund of a local daily.
Appreciating the initiative started by one of the departments of the college, principal Ahmed Nawaz Hushen said, “I am happy that a department from our college has come up with an idea to help the Nepal earthquake victims and to pray for their well being. Being a human being, it is our responsibility to extend a helping hand at such a time. The huge devastation the earthquake has caused will take years to mend.”
Prabhash Ranjan Rout, a 4th year student of the department said, “Through this candlelight march we are trying to show our solidarity with the people of Nepal who are in pain. We pray that their sufferings and sorrow end soon and let God give them the courage to rebuild what they have lost.”
