Sub-Division status eludes Muniguda

Muniguda: The residents alleged that the state government has been showing an apathetic attitude to their demands for sub-division status to Muniguda.

The state government had provided Notified Area Council (NAC) status to Muniguda, Baliguda and Dharmagarh. While the mechanism has started functioning at Baliguda and Dharmagarh, there was no luck for Muniguda yet.

Locals alleged there are no political parties or leaders who could raise the issue of Muniguda at the state level.

In a bid to press for their demands, Muniguda Development Council, Youth Development Council, Citizens’ forum, activists of Bajrang Dal and members of several clubs observed a 12-hour bandh in Muniguda September last year.

Moreover, they sat on a dharna in front of Block office staging protest for 10 days.

Later, a team of representatives submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence in Bhubaneswar.

They also submitted the copies to Chief Secretary, Urban Development Minister and Southern Revenue Divisional Commissioner.

However, the government hasn’t taken any steps to redress their problems, residents said.
