Bhubaneswar: Over one lakh women were excluded from receiving the second installment of the Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana due to discrepancies between their declared income and ration card details, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced Wednesday.
According to an official source, while these beneficiaries had received the first installment, they were later deemed ineligible after verification revealed their income exceeded the scheme’s threshold.
Addressing concerns over the exclusions, Parida stated that a detailed verification survey would be conducted after March 31 to reassess eligibility. The one-on-one evaluation aims to ensure that only those who genuinely qualify continue receiving financial assistance under the scheme.

The state government has assured that women who were wrongly excluded due to documentation errors will receive their second installment by Rakhi Purnima. Additionally, women turning 21 by March 31 will have the opportunity to apply for the scheme’s benefits.
Subhadra Yojana is a key initiative focused on women’s empowerment through financial aid. The women within the age group of 21 to 60 years are eligible as the beneficiaries of the Subhadra Yojana, which envisages providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years (2024-25 to 2028-29) to make them financially independent and self-reliant.
