Bhubaneswar: The autopsy report Tuesday confirmed that 18-year-old Subhalaxmi Sahoo died due to asphyxiation at Hotel Deepali International in Laxmisagar area here Saturday afternoon.
Police sources claimed that the deceased might have hanged herself to death. However, cops are yet to unearth the reason behind her taking such extreme step.
Meanwhile, police have recorded the statements of Subhalxmi’s purported boyfriend Sanjay, her parents and the manager of the hotel where the body was found.
The cops reportedly recorded contradictory statements by the father and the alleged boyfriend of the deceased. Her father claimed that Subhalaxmi had left home August 2 while Sanjay told the police that she had reached Bhubaneswar August 30 and was staying along with another male friend of her.
Police, however, are trying to unearth the truth. Subhalaxmi, a student of Kamala Nehru Women’s College, had reportedly checked into the hotel Friday. She was staying in a room on the second floor of the hotel. Saturday, the room boy of the hotel suspected something to be wrong when she didn’t come downstairs for lunch till late afternoon. After he expressed his concern to the manager, the manager broke into the room and found Subhalaxmi hanging from a ceiling fan with her stole.
