Rourkela: Even as 50 years will complete to a students’ movement over the Talcher-Bimalagarh railway project, which has remained incomplete till date, SUCI (Communist) Sunday announced that it would join another round of agitation being planned by some outfits over the issue.
At its meeting, SUCI (Communist) expressed concern over tardy pace of the project since 1969. It decided that it would support the movement as the project is important for the district. The activists criticised both the state and central governments for neglecting the project.
The SUCI leaders lamented that the efforts of a students’ action committee, which had started protests and demonstrations decades ago over the railway project linking Sundargarh, have become futile.
SUCI leaders like Shankar Dasgupta, Chhabi Mohanty, Ajay Mohanty, Satyapriya Mohanty, Ajit Nayak, KN Tripathy and Bishnu Panda alleged that the government has not paid heed to sentiments and issues of the people in Sundargarh.
