Rayagada: Life has taken a U-turn for an ex-woman ultra after she joined the mainstream of society shunning violence.

Champa was involved in a police-Maoist gun battle at Basangamali area under Kashipur block in Rayagada district.
She along with her cousin Deepa surrendered before Rayagada SP March 17, 2011 and expressed desire to continue with her studies.
Based on a report of screening and rehabilitation committee, the district admission got them admitted to National Institute of Open Schools (NIOS) in Bhubaneswar. After clearing HSC examination in 2014, the two wanted to do further studies. The administration admitted them to a diploma course in Dhaneswar Institute of Medical Technology and the two have passed the examination this year.
One of them would be given a job in the district headquarters hospital, the SP said.
The administration has been spending Rs 3,000 per month each towards their education over the years. Besides, the ex-ultra Champa would be given a patch of 4 decimal of land, Rs 45,000 for construction of house under IAY, Rs 25,000 cash assistance and a fix deposit of Rs 2.5 lakh during her marriage on behalf of the administration, said the SP.
