Sushmita Dev meets Pipli gangrape victim’s family

Pipli: All-India Mahila Congress president and MP Sushmita Dev Thursday visited Arjungoda village here and met the family the minor girl, who was gangraped and murdered a few years ago.

Dev talked to victim’s mother and assured her of raising the issue in Parliament. She also told the victim’s mother that the Congress party would write to the Prime Minister and seek a CBI probe into the incident.

Dev also sought the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik by alleging that the state government has failed to provide justice to the victim’s family.

“The Congress party would continue its agitation seeking justice to the victim’s family,” Dev said.

Odisha Mahila Congress president Sumitra Jena, who accompanied Dev to Arjungoda, said the party would soon meet Governor Ganeshi Lal and submit a memorandum seeking CBI probe to the incident.

Among others, Congress leaders Shibanand Ray, Dharanidhar Nayak and Bijaylaxmi Sahu were present during Dev’s visit to Arjungoda.
